Grant - Day 12

Today was our last day in Svay Pak. How did I feel as we left this community that was almost home for the last two weeks? I felt a mix of emotions. I have something of a love/hate relationship with Svay Pak. I truly hate the evil that exists in this village. There is nothing redeeming about sexual slavery and child abuse. There is nothing redeeming about the sale and "rent" of children for any purposes but particularly for the warped satisfaction of pedophiles. There is nothing redeeming...

But I said I have a love/hate relationship. There is so much that is not redeeming about Svay Pak and yet it is being redeemed. God is redeeming this terrible village and He is doing so through the life and ministry of Rahab's House (and soon The Sanctuary) and the people involved in this ministry. Of course at the heart, God is redeeming Svay Pak in and through Christ, but God works through His people and He is working through the people ministering in Svay Pak.

We experienced less hostility than we did two years ago. More caregivers (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles) are starting to say, "No" when the pimps come to collect their children. More and more the Gospel is bringing change to this place. It is still the centre for trafficking Vietnamese girls all over the world but change as started. Please continue to pray for Svay Pak, for Rahab's House and The Sanctuary and for Pastor Chanta and his team.

This place that has so much to hate also has much to love and in that love there is hope.
