Today was another day of hard work at the "Sanctuary", although I must say that it was a little cooler than previous days. We commenced again at around 8am and off we went. It can get a little tedious after a while, paint, paint, paint, then next room paint, paint, paint again, especially when you've painted the walls the wrong colour! At times you can find yourself forgetting why you’re here.
The Cambodian workers seem to have become a lot friendlier and not as hostile with each day. They are smiling a lot more, it appears as though they trust us now. Two young boys came to help us out with the painting which was good to see, even though they made just as much of a mess on the floor as we did (we’re amateurs so it’s OK, but Lord help us to clean up the mess at the end).
Lunch at 12pm - Well where do I start, an absolute feast. Pastor Chanta and his wife have spoilt us with wonderful nutritious Khmer food once again. During lunch pastor Chanta informed us that the Cambodian workers in the building were asking as to why we western people are so nice to them and appear to be happy and smiling all the time. His response to them was, because Jesus has shown his love to them, they in return want to show this love to you. Well I’ve got it now, that's why I'm sweating it out and every stroke of the brush has a purpose, this very purpose.
Not only are we helping complete a building that will be a medical clinic, a school and of course a church, but the bonus is that we are witnessing to this community with our actions and I am encouraged that we are achieving this, for that is priceless!!!!
