Prem's Prayer Letter

It has been some time since I have been involved in a Short-Term (Summer) Missions Trip, having changed careers and having to make the necessary adjustments. The time has come where I am once again able to go. Cambodia has been on my heart and mind for the past 2 years since the first Seek Justice Conference at Rexdale and being challenged with the issue of justice on the one hand and the atrocities of Cambodia on the other.

It is no coincidence that last year, Charlene (our co-leader on this trip) had a teaching idea for the trip and had asked me to look into some material at the Board where we teach. It appeared to me there was a hint of availability to help implement it, so I contemplated going last year. So the bug was planted! Well it wasn’t shortly after that I found myself as a prayer supporter a couple of the team members.

It is also no strange co-incidence that I ended up taking a course this year during the January - March timeframe (I would normally have taken it during the summer months). No sooner had I signed up, that being part of the team to Cambodia this year came to fruition. I realized the wisdom of God’s sovereignty and action - pleasant surprise!

"Thus says the Lord. ‘Preserve justice and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come And my righteousness to be revealed.’ ‘How blessed is the man who does this, And the son of man who takes hold of it;’" Isaiah 56: 1:2a

So now I find myself engaging justice that expresses itself as Isaiah 61:1-3. It is a challenge on many levels psychologically, emotionally, spiritually and what I will be like after our time in Cambodia remains a mystery.

Pray for:
  • God’s changing and re-shaping me through this time of ministry to the girls. The team will be interacting with them, teaching them needed life-skills. [Creativity for planning the workshops]
  • The Holy Spirit to bridge the barrier of low literacy levels.
  • The needs of the girls, the workers and our preparations for ministry would be clear answers to prayer
  • The daily empowerment of the Holy Spirit for the team, team unity, team health, wisdom and discernment
  • Learning basic Khmer
  • Preparations over the two weeks before we depart
